The people. The principles. The fine print.

About Jaydslist

When Craigslist personals disappeared, it left a gap that most replacements filled with ads, paywalls, and fake accounts. Jaydslist exists to try something different: a personals platform that's actually good at helping real people connect, without the extractive product decisions.

Free ways to connect

Browsing, posting, messaging, and contact exchange are available to free accounts. The current app reserves photo albums, listing photos, and privacy mode for accounts with supporter status, and changes some listing limits for those accounts. This supporter design is under review; there is no in-app subscription checkout.

Phone-verified application access

Accounts use email and password. Phone verification is required to enter the application; social login is not supported. A verified number does not establish someone's identity, age, or safety.

You're told why if a listing is suspended

When a moderator flags a listing, the app attempts to email the reason and instructions for revising it. Delivery depends on the configured email service; flagged listings also show their reason in the app.

Moderation with a real process

Reports use defined categories. Moderators can dismiss reports, warn users, remove listings, or ban accounts; a warning is not guaranteed before a ban. Serious violations can result in immediate action.

Listings held to a standard of clarity

Vague terms like "cute" or "nearby" mean different things to different people. Posters define exactly what they mean, right in the listing — so nobody is left guessing.

Open source and self-hostable

The code is AGPL-licensed and public. If you don't trust how we run things, you can read exactly how it works — or run your own instance.

We're not naive enough to claim this will be perfect — no platform can promise that. But we think a personals site can put in a genuine effort instead of treating users as a captive audience. That's the whole idea.
